Making goals for 2017

In 2016 my making goals focused on improving my crochet skills and making my first garment. Back in December, I reflected on my making achievements in - I made two crochet garments and they both fit! - and started to sketch out my goals for 2017. The list looked something like this:
  1. Crochet; continue to develop my skills and make more garments
  2. Knitting; I feel as though I really boosted my crochet skills in 2016 and want to do the same for my knitting skills in 2017 and hopefully make a garment
  3. Accessories; I love wearing the hats, cowls, mittens and shawls that I’ve made so through the year I want to keep building up the collection
  4. Designing; I want to finally turn some of my ideas into reality!
  5. Instagram; keep trying to improve the way I photograph my work
And perhaps 2017 might be the year that I start the making blog I keep thinking about…maybe!

It's now February 2017 and I've taken the plunge and set up this little blog space. I've been wanting to write about my making for the last year or so, as a way of capturing my work, recording my progress and exploring a little more about what making means to me.

The title of this blog is inspired by my much-missed grandmother who taught me crochet and embroidery when I was younger. My Gran - as grandmothers often are - was amazing; she had a huge talent for making and played an instrumental role in developing and nurturing my creativity. Gran was always making and became a role model to me showing me that making can be part of everyday. Some days it's really not possible, but when I can, I like to make everyday too; crochet, knitting, baking, sketching or painting and I find it to have a huge therapeutic value - more of which in future posts...
